چکیده

Oral administration of CC14 to rats produced (a) decreased cholesterol, phospholipid, and triglyceride plasma concentrations and elevated triglyceride levels in liver, (6) several hours later, a growing increase in plasma FFA, and (c) still later, increased plasma cholesterol, triglyceride, and phospholipid concentrations and continually rising liver triglyceride. The accumulation of hepatic triglyceride induced by CC14 was smaller after administration of sympathetic anti-release agents; larger after administering a ganglion-blocking agent; smaller after the animals had been cord-sectioned ; reduced by adrenalectomy and (to a much lesser extent) by bilateral splanchnicectomy. Corticoid treatment partially restored the response to cc14 in adrenalectomized animals. Cord section prevented the plasma FFA increase induced by CClr, although it did not modify the decrease in plasma phospholipid; both adrenalectomy and hypophysectomy also prevented the CC14induced plasma FFA increase. The results are interpreted as indicating that both adrenal corticoids and an intact sympathetic nervous system are necessary for fatty liver induction by CC1,.

Hepatoprotective Effect of Otostegia persica Boiss. Shoot Extract on Carbon Tetrachloride-Induced Acute Liver Damage in Rats

In this study, the hepatoprotective effect of the methanol extract of aerial parts (shoot) from Otostegia persica Boiss (Golder) was investigated against the carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced acute hepatotoxicity in male rats. Liver damage was induced through the oral administration of 50% CCl4 in liquid paraffin (2.5 mL/Kg bw, per os) 60 min after the administration of the methanol extract o...

Effect of Curcumin and its Analogue on Lipids in Carbon Tetrachloride–Induced Hepatotoxicity: A Comparative Study

Curcumin and its analogue (bisdemethoxy curcumin analogue [BDMC-A]) were studied for their possible lipid-lowering properties in carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Carbon tetrachloride (3ml kg 1 wk ) administration to albino Wistar rats increased the levels of hepatic marker enzymes such as aspartate transaminase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), and c-glutamyl transfer...

اثر عصاره‌ی هیدروالکلی برگ گیاه غافث (Agrimonia eupatoria L.) بر سمیت کبدی در موش‌های صحرایی نر القا شده با تتراکلرید کربن

Background and Objective: Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) is a toxic agent leading to hepatotoxicity. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Agrimonia eupatoria leaf hydroalcoholic extract (AEE) on carbon tetrachloride induced rat liver. Materials and Methods: In this study, 42 male rats were randomly allocated to 6 groups: the control group receiving normal saline, 2ml/kg, ip and ...

INFLUENCE OF GLYCOSAMINOGLYCANS ISOLATED FROM THE RAT LIVER WITH VARIOUS STAGES OF CARBON TETRACHLORIDE-INDUCED FIBROSIS UPON COLLAGEN FIBRILLOGENESIS IN VITRO

The influence of glycosaminoglycans (GAG) on collagen fibrillogenesis in vitro was investigated. GAG and collagen were isolated from the liver of rats treated with carbon tetrachloride at various time intervals (3-16 weeks). It was found that GAG obtained from the fibrotic liver accelerated collagen fibril formation. This effect was more evident in a solution of type I collagen than type II...
